Why Scott is our 2016 Q2 Values Champion: Scott responded to an emergency call on a Sunday morning with great speed. A defective water heater caused a flood in a third-floor apartment. Scott contacted a standard vendor, but was advised they could not provide emergency service. He quickly engaged an alternate vendor and drove to the property, which is a 30-minute commute from his home. Scott arrived just 40 minutes after receiving the emergency call. He turned the water off to prevent further flooding, and helped the residents remove their personal belongings so they wouldn’t be damaged. Scott arranged for the water heater to be replaced the same day so residents could return to their normal routine. He ensured the work was done correctly and then facilitated carpet and vinyl replacement.
Why Kahsay is our Annual Values Champion: Celio’s sister property, Vista St. Clair, was without a Maintenance Supervisor for ten months. During that time, Kahsay volunteered to handle after-hours calls, and still maintained a high standard of performance at his regular job. This provided our Vista residents with a very capable maintenance person in the event of emergency. We received many compliments from Vista residents about Kahsay’s respectful manner and sound judgement. Kahsay also worked with Vista’s Community Manager, Julie Hovorak, to understand which situations qualified as emergencies so he could respond appropriately. Nice job, Kahsay!
How We Select Our Values Champions
Commerce’s Values Committee meets monthly to promote core values and strengthen company culture. It is staffed by people from a number of different jobs to represent a wide variety of perspectives.
One of the committee’s primary responsibilities is the Values Champions program. People nominate co-workers as Values Champions for demonstrating Commerce’s values in their daily work. The Values Committee reviews these nominations and selects a Values Champion each quarter. Every July, the committee selects one of the four quarterly Champions as the Annual Values Champion.
HOW WE REWARD OUR VALUES CHAMPIONS
If the committee selects you as quarterly Values Champion, you will have your name etched on Commerce’s Values Trophy and receive a gift card. You are also recognized at our quarterly all-company gathering.
If you earn the title of Annual Values Champion, the company provides you two additional days of PTO along with a trip somewhere in the Northwest. Plus, we’ll etch your name on the trophy along with other annual winners.
